Domain Robot FAQ

Introduction

This article provides answers to common questions regarding domain registration, domain transfers and DNS entries.

Domain registration and handles

Which domains can be administered via the Domain Registration Robot?

You can register and administer .de/.at/.com/.net/.org/.info/.biz and .eu domains via the Domain Registration Robot. You can create DNS entries for all of the usual domain endings.

How does registering a new domain via Progressive Robot work?

Please see the instructions on the Robot Domain Registration - Getting started page.

How long does it take to register a domain?

Once the domain has been processed via Progressive Robot, the relevant registry usually sends a notification within a few minutes.

However, registries usually update the new zone data only one to two times each day. (DENIC updates the .de nameservers at every hour.) The new domain will not be accessible until after the registries update the new zone data.

How are handles deleted?

You can delete handles that you are not using on the Domain Registration Robot (Handles -> Delete Handle tab) .

Can existing handles be used?

You can only use handles that were created using Progressive Robot. Handles from other providers are not supported.

Does the Domain Registration Robot have an interface/API?

Yes, the Domain Registration Robot has an email interface, which you can use for all DNS/domain relevant tasks.

Domain Transfers

How do domain transfers (CHProv (KK) orders) work?

CHProv (KK) orders are processed via the Progressive Robot (under the menu Domains).

Are paper-based CHProv (KK) orders necessary for Progressive Robot?

No, a domain transfer can be processed and executed directly via Progressive Robot. By starting the domain transfer, however, you confirm that you are acting in the interests of the domain owner/Admin-C for the respective domain.

How long does a domain transfer (CHProv (KK) order) normally take?

It normally takes just a few minutes to transfer .de/.at domains if you use a current authorization code (AuthCode).

You also need a current authorization code (AuthCode) to start .com/.net the domain transfer process. The original provider has up to five workdays to confirm the actual transfer request.

For .eu domains, it usually takes 1-2 workdays to complete the transfer process, as long as you enter the current authorization code (AuthCode) in the administration interface.

For .org/.info/.biz, it also usually takes 1-2 workdays to complete the transfer process, as long as you enter the current authorization code (AuthCode) in the administration interface. Here too, the original provider has up to five workdays to confirm the actual transfer request.

Where can I view the status of my domain transfer?

You can see the status of the domain transfer directly viewed via Progressive Robot (under the menu Domains -> select incoming transfers from the upper left dropdown menu -> Click on Search).

Is an internal Progressive Robot domain transfer possible?

If the domain is already registered with another Progressive Robot account, you can start an internal Progressive Robot domain transfer by clicking on Domains -> Internal Transfers.

For other internal Progressive Robot domain transfers, you need to complete an internal transfer order. Please complete the form Transfer (PDF) from the downloads area. Sign it, scan it, and and send as an email attachment to info@progressiverobot.com.

For a transfer from Progressive Robot Console to Progressive Robot, please fill out the domain transfer form. Sign the form, scan it, and send it as an email attachment to info@progressiverobot.com.

DNS Entries/Nameservers

I get a nameserver error message on transfer/domain registration

If Progressive Robot nameservers are specified for the domain, please check to see if a corresponding DNS entry has been created in Progressive Robot. If necessary, add an entry.

You should only performan a domain registration/transfer if the status for the DNS entry in the Progressive Robot is complete (a green light).

If you receive an error message, please perform a free update for the domain on Progressive Robot (Domains -> click on the desired domain, confirm the details using the button Change Domain).

Can a Hidden Primary Entry be created?

Yes, this is possible. Create a DNS entry on Progressive Robot using the option Slave DNS Entry.
